A Living Hope!

A LIVING HOPE!

Happy Resurrection Sunday! Jesus has risen from the dead!

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” 1 Peter 1:3.

Because Jesus is alive, all things are possible, and any situation can change!

As we celebrate this Easter, we are aware— that in spite of a myriad of personal challenges that we all face daily— Christ offers a vibrant, dynamic, living hope! Jesus still opens blind eyes and deaf ears! He is still actively answering prayers and intervening into life’s difficult situations.

Ordinarily, when we express hope, we are expressing uncertainty. We may say “I hope the Vikings have a good season,” or, “I hope my kids do well in school,” etc.. But this is not the distinctive biblical meaning of hope. Biblical hope is not just a desire for something good in the future, but rather, biblical hope is a confident expectation that what we desire and what has been promised will surely come to pass!

People with biblical hope are confident that Jesus is good and that each day offers a new opportunity for Him to show himself strong on our behalf. Biblical hope is flooded with positive expectation. It is certain that God is good, convinced that He is alive, and very confident that God will absolutely help us in times of trouble.

Science has proven that people with hope live longer and healthier lives that those without hope. People with hope face adversity with confidence and peace—as opposed to the despair and depression those without hope face on a daily basis.

Christians have the hope of eternal life, sins forgiven, and an eternal home in heaven. The unbeliever must “live for today”, because that is all there is.

For believers with hope in Christ—when we pass from this life—true living really begins. What an awesome future, no matter how difficult things become!

Rejoice!  We have already defeated death, hell, and the grave, because Jesus has already defeated them and given to us a living hope! Jesus is alive!

Happy Easter!
