Walking in Supernatural Courage

WALKING IN SUPERNATURAL COURAGE

"Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus," Acts 4:13.

Wow! Don't you just love this verse? I get encouraged every time I read it. It tells me that we don't have to be the most educated, the greatest star, the best speaker, or the person with the most popularity to do great things for God! I love that about God. He delights in using common, ordinary people like you and I to accomplish great things that transform lives, families, cities and regions.

The disciples were common men. They were not trained in rabbinical schools. They were not the religious experts of the day, but when they spoke there was power, boldness, and accuracy in their words. When they prayed God would demonstrate His power! Verse 14 says, "And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it," (Acts 4:14)Who can argue with a miracle? Who can argue when a man who has never walked a day in his life is now walking?

We live in a culture that prides itself on intellectualism and image. Whether it's climbing the corporate ladder, fulfilling a childhood dream, or becoming a highly respected person of influence, we often feel that to advance in our society we need to be the smartest, the greatest, the best looking, etc. We even drag this mentality into our Christianity. We often feel unqualified to share the Gospel with the lost. It's so easy to feel afraid and insecure. It's easy to feel like we need to work up some kind of courage and boldness so that we can go out and minister to the lost or the sick.

I want to challenge you today with how simple it really is to accomplish great things for God's glory. Take it from the guy who repeated kindergarten because I was so shy I didn't talk! Let's face it, boldness and courage were not my forte! The key is so simple I can describe it with one word: RUN! Run after God! Run after more and more and more of the Holy Spirit in your life! When you're facing pressure, instead of running away from God in intimidation, run toward God for courage! Instead of saying, "I can't be a bold witness," run to God and ask Him to fill you again and again with His Holy Spirit!

You will never leave an encounter with God the same way you came. If you will ask, seek, and knock, God will answer. He will give you a boldness and courage that transcends your personal capabilities. Then there will come a time when God uses you in a powerful way, and people will marvel at the power of Jesus and not in the power of some earthly person like you and I.
