WELCOME TO THE 21 DAY FAST || DAY TWELVE : JAN. 15, 2016
We all face pressures in life. These pressures vary from person to person depending on seasons of life, levels of responsibility, or circumstances one may be facing, but all of us have things that can bring us stress or be a cause for worry. But Philippians 4:6-7 says,
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Like me, you've probably read this verse dozens of times. Almost every time I read it I think to myself, "That is how I want to live life, free from all anxiety, fear, and stress!" Then I come into a challenge and much of my peace seems to disappear! How can we be more consistent? I believe the answer is found in Isaiah 26:3-4 NLT,
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
Notice that God keeps in perfect peace (complete wholeness) everyone whose thoughts are FIXED on Him. During the 21 day fast is the perfect time to learn to wait upon the Lord and fix our thoughts and attention on Him. When we learn to master ourselves in the area of waiting upon the Lord, we learn to discipline our thoughts and emotions and become anchored in the Lord - the One who never changes! Circumstances, seasons in life, and responsibilities will all change, but God will never change! That is why Isaiah refers to Him as the Lord God the eternal Rock. He and His promises for you will never change!
Ask God to anchor you deeper than ever before in your trust for Him and you will find that you are able to get ahold of your thoughts and emotions instead of your thoughts and emotions getting ahold of you!
