Day 20 | Pressing Forward

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting BANNER-04.png

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV).

Paul was an exceptionally effective preacher of the Gospel, and an Apostle that planted numerous churches in a large region of the known world at that time. He was intensely persecuted: “Five times I received from the Jews forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea,” 2 Corinthians 11:24-25 (NIV).

Yet Paul never quit or gave in to self-pity or complaining. He just kept “straining toward what is ahead, and pressing toward the goal for the prize,” (Philippians 3:13-14). Eventually Paul was beheaded in a Roman prison without ever pulling back from his God given mission! What an attitude!

In like manner, God has given us an urgent mission to accomplish! We are called to plant vibrant life-giving churches across the region. It has not been easy or convenient— but absolutely necessary. We don’t want to see America die spiritually!

America is losing their foundation of Godliness. 9 out of 10 Churches have plateaued or are declining or growing at a slower rate than their communities. 66% of baby boomers claim to be born again, but only 15% of millennials (23-38 years old) claim Christianity. 2.5 million people walk away from the church and from Christianity every year in America. Approximately 8,000 Christian Churches close their doors every year.

The only hope America has is when God’s people are able and willing to establish new vibrant church plants across the region. A new church plant grows with new evangelism 3-5 times faster than an existing church 10 years of age or older.

Let’s not allow our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren inherit a totally pagan and Godless America rifled with atheism, socialism, communism and secularism. Let’s do what we can to help bring America back to God!

On February 3, in all 3 New Life Church locations, we are giving everyone an opportunity to invest into New Life’s church planting mandate.

God is challenging us to “Do Something We’ve Never Done Before.” Like Mary who poured a very precious perfume to wash Jesus feet (worth one year’s wages)— God is challenging all of us to bring an extra ordinary gift to Jesus during the next two years with cash and/or pledges. (John 12:1-8)

America is dying. We must grab ahold of the urgency of the time. We must give sacrificially and pray diligently for God’s Kingdom to be established in our region through new church plants. We must press forward!

The Best is Yet to Come!
