Jesus Is Alive

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’” John 11:25-26.

Many do not believe in “life after death.” They say we will all experience the same fate of any other animal – we will just cease to exist at death.

However, Jesus taught many times about a very real “hereafter.”

For a Christian, death is not a tragedy, but a glorious promotion – not a sad end, but a glorious beginning.

Paul the apostle stated: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far!”  Philippians 1:21-23 (NIV).

In contrast, death for someone that does not know the Lord, is a horrible thing to be feared. Jesus talked about hell in literal terms: “So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth,” Matthew 13:49-50 (KJV).

Jesus’ resurrection guarantees that every person has the opportunity to choose eternal life, and to escape the realities of hell. If Jesus would have stayed in the grave, His claims of deity would have perished along with His physical body. He rose again to prove that He alone has the victory over death, hell, and the grave. Everyone who believes in Him, and follows Him, will experience eternal life with Him forever!

There is only one way to heaven – it is through Jesus Christ!

Because we have all sinned, all of us are doomed to being banned from God’s presence forever (Romans 3:23). However, God sent Jesus to pay the penalty of the wrath of God for our sins upon the cross! He became sin in our place and even suffered the hopeless state of every sinner – banned from the life and presence of God for 3 days in the center of the earth.

The Apostles' Creed states that Jesus, "was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead" (Acts 2:27, Ephesians 4:9,10). He then took back the keys of death, hell, and the grave.

Jesus won! Satan is defeated! Eternal life is available to everyone! Because Jesus has conquered death we can trust in Him, and then we, through Him, conquer eternal death and damnation as well! His victory is our victory!

Happy Easter!
