Day 1 | Starting the Year Right

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting BANNER-04.png

Welcome to the 2019 21 Day Fast!

Ecclesiastics 3:1 states, “There is a time for everything,” and the start of a new year is a time for fresh starts and new beginnings. It’s a time to review the blessings and lessons of last year, and a time to start fresh and anew with what God has in store for us in 2019!

We always begin a new year with a season of prayer and fasting. There are many reasons for this:

  • The way we start the year is critical—it prepares our hearts and minds to be refocused on the correct priorities.

  • God is the “God of first things.” In scripture He asks for the “first fruits” of all our increase.  Sundays are set aside for worship because it is the first day of the week. We return to Him the tithe, which is the first ten percent of our income. The principle is this: whatever is consecrated to God— by offering to Him the first and the best— everything that remains is supernaturally blessed and increased.

  • The momentum of the year is always set at the beginning of the year. Slow and unfocused momentum at the beginning leads to dismal results for the remainder of the year.

  • How we start the year determines how we finish the year. Start right— in sync with God’s plan for our lives— and we will definitely end right— with huge blessings and accomplishments!

We have numerous resources to aid us in our fast. Instructional articles that describe the details of a successful fast are available at the welcome center at each New Life campus. We will learn how to fast effectively, how to get a plan for our fast, pitfalls to avoid while fasting, and how to make a list of prayer needs and requests that we can focus on during the fast.

Be sure to attend the scheduled prayer meetings at each New Life campus during the fast. Click here to find out times at each location.

Also, continue to check back every day on this blog for 21 days. Downloading our free app on our mobile device will make it easy to keep in touch with these and to listen to our messages as we take this fasting journey together (search for ND New Life Church in the app store).

We will receive instruction, inspiration, and necessary know-how so that we will be enabled to successfully complete our 21 Day Fast.  Hundreds of people will be joining us— so we are not alone. Ample support and encouragement are available.

Isaiah 43:18-19 encourages us, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

The best is yet to come!
