DAY 10 | 21 Day Fast | Why Power, Miracles & Manifestations Aren't My Greatest Aspiration

"I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!" Philippians 3:10-11 NLT.

Paul prayed that he might "know" Christ and experience His mighty power. The Greek word for "know" here is Ginosko. Ginosko is a knowledge that is personal, relational, and intimate. Paul wanted to know God intimately! Just like Paul, our greatest aspiration in life should be to know God intimately.

One of the most intimate conversations ever recorded between God and a human in the Bible took place between Moses and God in Exodus 33 when Moses asked God to show him His glory. Moses was not asking God to show him His power. He was basically asking, "God, show me what makes You who You are!" Moses wanted to know God inside and out.

Isn't that really the purpose of why we're fasting and praying? Isn't it to know God more than we've ever known Him? Here are some quick thoughts to challenge you on the 10th day of your fast:

1) Prayer & Fasting should result in greater obedience and service to God and man. A fast that doesn't result in this is condemned by God (Isaiah 58). I want to know God more so I can become a better servant this year.

2) Worship without obedience is just noise to God. Here's what God told Israel in Amos 5:23, "I will not listen to the music of your harps. Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living." I want to know God in a way that results in greater righteous living and a heart for true justice! Who cares about goosebumps in worship if my heart isn't set on knowing God.

3) A preoccupation with either God's power or character is senseless. It's in our pursuit of knowing God Himself that my character becomes transformed into the character of Christ and His power begins flowing through my life! Experience follows knowing. When we get to know God, He will conform us to the likeness of His Son and we will experience His mighty power in ways we have not before!

Pray during this fast that God would reveal Himself to you. Developing a friendship with God during the fast will forever change your life. Seek His face and obey all He says to do and see what happens!
