Living Beyond Yourself

Growing up I remember some of our biggest disagreements as siblings happened around a sink of dirty dishes. I love eating as much as the next guy but the cleanup seemed to bring out the worst in us. It was a tough lesson to learn that being part of a family required my involvement and responsibility.

The church and New Life is similar in many ways. In fact, it’s accurate to describe the church as a family or a body. We understand that when we hurt or lose part of our physical body our entire body suffers and has to adjust. Paul describes that in detail in 1 Corinthians 12:12-31. “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” There are no small, insignificant parts of the body of Christ. Every member is valuable and every person has a role to play.

The vision for New Life can be stated this way:

  • Encounter God - Lost people Saved - Sunday Services
  • Empower People - Saved people Pastored - Get over your past - Small Groups

  • Enjoy Life - Pastored People Trained - Growth Track

  • Exist for Others - Trained people Mobilized - Dream Team

We believe in mobilizing the people of God to accomplish the work of the kingdom. Why do we do it this way?

  1. We believe that people ministering is the Biblical model. Ephesians 4:11-12 says, “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

  2. We believe people need to be needed. People may come for the worship, kids ministry, or the preaching but they stay because they are needed and known.

  3. We believe serving others meets the greatest need of the human heart; living a life beyond yourself and a life that makes a difference.

  4. We believe that God’s purpose for our church is revealed in the people He sends us. Jesus is the head of the church and He disperses gifts through the Holy Spirit. Everything we need is in the people He has sent. We just need to discover the gifts within.

Our desire is to see all of the members of the body of Christ within New Life find their place and purpose. Everyone has something to contribute!  We make the connection and discovery process simple through Growth Track. Let’s work together to see the kingdom of God established and the lives of people changed with the Gospel.
