Prayer is another form of worship

In the past few weeks, we have been talking about the power of prayer. How encouraging and comforting it is that our Father is as close as our breath or as the song says ‘the mention of His name.” I want you to see how prayer is also worship. Worship doesn’t have to be singing or music…yes that is a form of it also but it’s not the only one. Giving is a form of worship. We should look at everything we do as an act of worship to our Heavenly Father.

To review, what is prayer? Basically it is talking to God. It is a benefit of a loving relationship with our Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Prayer is not difficult. Think of it as talking to a dear friend or loved one. God WANTS to dialogue with you. Not monologue but dialogue. He wants to have a conversation with you. He loves communicating and interacting with us. Having a deep and personal relationship with Him makes ALL the difference in your life.

The most important thing is having that special time consistently with the Creator. Acknowledge His “worth” with worship, give thanks for all His blessings, and express your love for Him. He loves to hear that! Then share your concerns, needs, and desires. Even your hurts and failures can be shared in that special place of safety and love. Think of your kids…or even your pet! When they hug you and lick you (the pet not the kids!) and tell you how great you are, you would do anything for them! Our Heavenly Father is like that too. He WANTS to bless you but He needs you to come to Him first.

Philippians 4:6 in the NLT says it this way….”Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.”

Have your special place to have that special and intimate time with your Heavenly Father. It’s so crucial to growing as Christians. The more time you spend with Him the better you’ll get to know Him and the easier it becomes to hear His voice. We also become more like Him when we spend time in His presence.

Worshiping God through prayer brings us closer to Him. It changes us. It changes our lives. It changes our circumstances. It give us peace. It gives us joy. It strengthens us. It builds our faith. James 4:8 in the NLT says "Come close to God, and God will come close to you….”

Worship God through your prayers. Be encouraged and pray to your heavenly Father today and every day. He really loves hearing from you!
