Day Seven - 21 Day Fast, January 15, 2017
Hello There My Fellow Fast’ers,
Hope you all are hanging in there. I heard this joke a while ago…What kind of food is permitted to eat while fasting? Fast food. What do they mean by fast food? Deer, rabbit, pheasant? Or DQ, Subway, or McDonalds?
Last one I promise… Ok so if you’re on a Daniel fast is it ok to eat “Tiger” meat? Because they don’t sell Lions.
I want to encourage you that while you fast your Spirit is going to be very sensitive. So I want to warn you to be very aware of what media you take in during the fast. Here are a few things to keep in mind while fasting.
1. Read His Word:
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
John 5:19 Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; “he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.”
John 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.”
So from these 3 passages we see that 1. We need to read His Word to be transformed. 2. We will know his will and be able to carry out his work 3. God will give us the strength to carry out His will.
Hebrews 12:28-29 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.
Acts 13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
From these passages we see that 1. Our Father God is Awesome and worthy of praise 2. Fasting and Worship is very important for hearing God’s voice clearly in decision making.
Remember Fasting without spending time with God is called something very common… Dieting. I pray blessings over you in this fast that God will do something great in your life today.
God Bless, Pastor Ernest
