Who are we really fighting?
This month in Kingdom Kid’s – Bismarck, we have been learning about Spiritual Warfare. Our memory verse for this month has been Ephesians 6:12 (CEV):
“We are not fighting against humans. We are fight against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world.”
We need to remember that we are not fighting each other, or even people with different beliefs but we are fighting against Satan and all his helpers. This fight is real, and is always going on. Sometimes it can be exhausting and we may even feel defeated. But we need to remember that we are fully equipped to fight this battle.
Ephesians 6:10-18 explains our daily battle and the armor we can put on to protect ourselves. There are seven essential pieces of the armor of God: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, the Gospel of peace on our feet, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit and prayer. If we “forget” to put on even one of these pieces it makes us vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks. Each piece is equally important.
Remember we aren’t fighting other humans, our fight it much more serious. We need to be ready to stand firm and fight our hardest. Spend time everyday in God’s Word to learn how to better equip yourself for this fight you are in. And when things look grim, always remember that Jesus always won the battle and we win in the end!
