The Face and the Hand || Day 14 : 21 Day Fast
WELCOME TO THE 21 DAY FAST || DAY 14 : JAN. 17, 2016
The Face & the Hand
A few years ago Beth and I were facing some very challenging circumstances financially. We had not made any unwise decisions nor were we living beyond our means by excessive spending. We were just in a season of great trial and testing! As our family grew, the burden of the challenge became greater and greater. By this time, we had participated in several 21 days fasts. Each time I would seek God for breakthrough in this area as one of our rewards. But the pressure only seemed to mount.
When I was sure I could no longer bear the weight of the trial, God spoke to me. He told me what He was going to bring us breakthrough! It was a multi-year plan that He revealed to me that took 3 pages of journal to record. Woven through the promises for breakthrough were regular exhortations from the Lord to seek Him above all else! I confess, in the midst of the pressure, there were times I would pray more about the promise manifesting in my life than about growing in my relationship with God.
It was a daily decision I had to make to pursue Jesus and not just my breakthrough. Day after day I would plead with God, "God help me learn whatever I need during this time!" I think the biggest thing I learned was how to seek the face of God, not just His hand. 1 Timothy 6:11 says, "But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness." Your breakthrough is in His hand, but is released through His face if that makes sense. As Bill Johnson puts it, "If you find yourself seeking His hand, look up, His face isn't far away." It’s in the pursuit of the face of God that we become more like Him; we become who He truly created us to be!
God has made good of every word He said that day as I journaled and continues to bless us. I can now say as David did in 2 Samuel 22:20, "He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me." And you know what? God delights in you too! His hand holds your breakthrough, but His face will get you there. The pursuit of His face will change you from the inside out. That pursuit friends, is what prepares you for the release of powerful breakthroughs!
Love & Blessings!
